Flashback to the childhood game–Wonder if kids play that anymore. 🤔
This morning it’s more like ‘Green Cup…Red Cup’ in the coffeeland of Starbucks (see recent mini-post Kelly Green for reference).
Just like that, the red cup has officially made its annual debut:
As shown above, the ‘red cup’ isn’t plain like last year’s version (if you were wondering or your panties started bunching due to last year’s cup controversy).
This year, snowy trees and greenery adorn the cherry-red cup alongside the evergreen Starbucks lady logo, to give you a (mildly) warm holiday feel.
Not Christmas. Holiday.
C’mon people, we all have our beliefs. And I believe coffee is amazing no matter what cup it’s in. They could give me a red solo cup (even a generic brand) and I would approve. 👍🏻
CORRECTION: Thanks to my dear friend Dallas (again), Google, and People Magazine online, I have been made aware that there are a plethora of different red cup styles and they are pretty ‘Christmasy’. I didn’t take in all the cup offerings during my typical (rushed) pre-order pickup this morning.
Joy to the World, my friends.
Anyway, there is a point to this Starbucks follow-up post outside of ‘the whole cup thing’ I promise.
Yes, starting today (through Monday, 11/14) you have a chance to spread the holiday (coffee) cheer by utilizing the following #ShareEvent promotion:
Now, the offer only stands on these days from 2pm-5pm (smart marketing tactic, as most people indulge in Java in the am) so don’t get testy when you try to get your co-worker or boss a cup of (free) goodness on your way to work.
BUT, lets face it, coffee is good anytime of day (to me, at least) and who doesn’t love a good caffeine pick-me-up in the afternoon?
Here’s a thought: How ’bout you spread the ‘afternoon delight’ to a stranger in line behind you or someone you’ve never met?
More deets to prevent you from getting testy with the barista:
The BOGO offer is good for a free drink of equal or lesser value. It only applies to hot, iced and blended holiday beverages including the Chestnut Praline Latte, the Peppermint Mocha (Full-Fat and Skinny versions), the Caramel Brulée Latte, the Gingerbread Latte, the Eggnog Latte, Teavana’s ‘Joy’ Brewed Tea, and the Spiced Sweet Cream Nariño 70 Cold Brew.
Suggestion (from my mother) to Starbucks for next year: Open the BOGO offer to all drinks on your menu. Some people don’t like all the frills of ‘fancy coffee’ and opt for a standard cup o’ joe.
Or in Mom’s exact terms:
“Cut the crap…Keep it simple!!! Offer both.”
At any rate, let this be your chance at a ‘random act of kindness’ this week (just make sure the person you are kind to likes ‘fancy coffee’–LOL).
After all, it (literally) doesn’t cost you anything.
And you’re welcome, Stranger.
Free (Fancy) ☕️
